When To Schedule A Roof Inspection

When To Schedule A Roof Inspection

A roof inspection is essentially equivalent to a doctor's check-up for your roof. You always hope to get a clean bill of health, but if there are any problems, you can fix them quickly by catching them early - so long as you stick to a regular roof inspection regimen. Just as it's recommended that you get an annual check-up, it's easiest to stay abreast of your roof's health and spot roof issues early when you have your roof inspected at least once - if not twice - a year.

What Time Of Year Is Best For Roof Inspections?

If you're trying to get the most out of your roof inspections, you're probably wondering what time of year is optimal for scheduling a roof inspection (especially if you're someone who chooses to have your roof inspected twice a year). Here in Prescott, roof inspections can technically be done at any time of year, and we always recommend scheduling an urgent roof inspection ASAP after severe weather events, no matter when they happen. If we're talking routine roof inspections, however, the times of year we recommend for our customers are:

Spring

Summer here in Prescott is harsh. That gnarly sun can take a toll on roofs, especially older asphalt roofs that are starting to lose their flexibility and UV resistance. Summer is also monsoon season here in Prescott, and while our desert climate keeps us high and dry most of the time, those summer storms can take a toll on roofs that aren't adequately prepared. A spring roof inspection gives your roofing contractor an opportunity to check for any damage or problems that may have shown up over the winter, and allows them to perform preventative maintenance to ensure that your roof is ready for whatever weather summer brings.

Fall

While winters here are fairly mild and not too snowy, icy conditions are possible. On roofs with inadequate drainage or debris buildup, this can lead to dangerous ice dams. Going into winter, you want to make sure that there aren't any leaks or missing/damaged shingles, that your roof is properly ventilated, and that your roof is clean and free of debris (including fallen leaves) before you go into winter.

Why Not Summer Or Winter?

Because summer and winter represent the two ends of the weather extremes, so to speak, you want to make sure that your roof is ready for said rough weather before the season starts, not during it. The extreme weather conditions and high demand for roofing services during these times of year also limit our availability for roof inspections. While we can give roof inspections during the summer or winter if necessary, we highly recommend scheduling routine inspections in the spring or fall instead.

Don't Wait - Get Your Roof Inspected Today

A roof inspection is warranted anytime that you suspect you may have an undiagnosed roofing problem, but even if nothing's setting off any "alarm bells," scheduling a routine roof checkup is a great idea (and a quick and easy way to give yourself peace of mind) if you haven't had a roof inspection performed in a while.
